15 ~ Laboum: What About You

Group: Laboum
Track: What About You
Members: Haein, Solbin, Yulhee, Soyeon, ZN, Yujeong

There is one song in Part 1 where I mentioned that I fall in love with it because of its simplicity. Well, here's another song that made me fall in love with it with the exact same reason. There is something so simple yet so beautiful with this song that made it soothing to my ears. This is Laboum's second single, they debut in the same year - 2014 - with the song Pit a Pat. I love the music video for What About You too with its music box concept, and their outfits are so adorable. It is very impressive for them to be this good with just two singles, congratulations to their company (or should I say companies; NH Media and Nega Network, this group were formed with members from two different companies) for managing them very well with the right song and the appropriate concept. This song is really great, for those who are yet to be introduced to them, do check them out.

14 ~ Orange Caramel: The Gangnam Avenue

Group: Orange Caramel
Track: The Gangnam Avenue
Members: Raina, Nana, Lizzy

2014 has been a great year for Orange Caramel. This After School sub-unit had released song after song which are so fantastic and catchy complemented with highly creative and inventive music videos that they caught people's attention almost immediately. The Gangnam Avenue seems to be one of the less popular out of all the songs they released in 2014 though, which is a shame since it is such a good song. The concept for this music video is a bit more simple, maybe that's why it didn't get much attention compared to the rest? Or maybe people feel like it wasn't good enough? It does sound more like a J-pop than a K-pop song to be honest. I still personally love this song (well, it made my list), so if you somehow missed it, do yourself a favour and check it out, hopefully you'll like it as much as I do.

13 ~ Orange Caramel: Catallena

Group: Orange Caramel
Track: Catallena
Members: Raina, Nana, Lizzy

Yes, it's another Orange Caramel song in the list. I told you 2014 is a good year for Orange Caramel, didn't I? And it all started with this song, Catallena, which is inspired from a Punjab's folk song. I applaud the songwriters for going cross-cultural with the song, it certainly helps the group to appeal to global masses with its uniqueness. The creative sushi-based concept for the music video, of course, helps in that sense too. Both the group and song also received newfound fame when TheFineBros, one of the popular channel on Youtube, included it as one of the songs for their reactions video, introducing them to the viewers who are not yet familiar with K-pop songs. Catallena is certainly the highlight of Orange Caramel's career, and I can't wait to see what they have planned next.

12 ~ Spica: Ghost

Group: Spica
Track: Ghost
Members: Kim Boa, Yang Jiwon, Park Juhyun, Kim Bohyung, Park Narae

I've read some of their fan's comments saying that they are one of the most under-rated group in the K-pop industry right now, and I kind of agree with that statement. They have strong presence and powerful vocals but sadly they are not as popular as the other well-known groups. I believe it all came down to the songs; while I like some of their songs, none of them standout compared to the songs from the other groups. But Ghost is certainly one of the best song I've heard for 2014, and therefore it made into my list. The melody for this ballad song sounds lovely, their vocals are great, and the music video was not bad too (although I didn't quite make out the story it was trying to tell). Spica has all the potential to be a great group, so I hope they manage to do that with their wonderful talents. All the best Spica!

11 ~ Ladies' Code: So Wonderful

Group: Ladies' Code
Track: So Wonderful
Members: Ashley, Sojung, Zuny, RiSe, EunB
Watch So Wonderful MV here!

If you haven't read about the tragic accident that befall this group, you can check out my simple post about it here. Ladies' Code had released this 'wonderful' song (as the title of the song suggest) in early 2014. It had that 80's feel to it that made me think about Wonder Girls when listening to this song, nevertheless Ladies' Code manage to make the song standout on its own with their charm in the music video. It really is a great song, and it deserves every attention that it got. Good job Ladies' Code, and all the best for your future.
