2012 + The end of the world = Good movie?

I just watched the new trailer for end-of-the-world movie called 2012. I had posted the teaser trailer several months back in this blog. The teaser trailer made me screaming for more but this new trailer just shut me up. Why? Coz it's freaking me out! I always feel out of hope everytime I watch movie like this. I remembered feeling down and lost all my hope for a brighter future when I watched Knowing, so I'm not so sure anymore if I want to catch 2012 when it come out. I know that dreaded feelings will eventually go away, and usually after several minutes or even hours, but still...I don't know. I'll decide when the movie is out.

More from Final Fantasy XIII!

Here is an extended trailer for Final Fantasy XIII. A lot have been revealed in the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2009 and from what I've seen (trailers, interviews) the game looks great. Fans would definitely anxious for this one to be released. So far, the release date had only been stated as Spring 2010...so no actual date have been given.

I really love the extended trailer very much. Hope you guys would love it too. Enjoy!

And as always, you can always visit Game Trailers and IGN for more news about the game.

The Final movie?

Mmm...I wonder why they dropped the number 4 in the title. I think it would be much better if they put back the number in the title or at least put in a sub-title like Final Destination: The xxx xxx. Besides, it's a 4th movie in the series and it would be confusing if they named it like they did.

What am I talking about? The 4th installment in the Final Destination movie series. They titled it The Final Destination. Are they saying that this would be the last movie in the franchise? I hope not!

Here's the trailer for The Final Destination courtesy of IGN. This movie is set for release in US in August 2009. Enjoy!

Drag Me to Hell ~ review

Two words to describe this movie: Classic horror.

Drag Me to Hell is the movie which marked the return of Sam Raimi to the horror genre. As you guys may have known, Sam Raimi directed The Evil Dead series before he directed the ever-so-popular Spiderman trilogy.

Drag Me to Hell tells a story of a loan officer, Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) who had been cursed by a gypsy woman, Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver) after she refused to extend her (the gypsy woman) mortgage. It may sound like a simple premise for a movie but trust me, it's not a smooth ride. A lot of chaos, loud sound-effects, jump-off-your-seat moments, and of course, funny moments too (if you watched the Evil Dead series, then you know what I mean).

Acting wise, I was most impressed with Lorna Raver performance in the movie, she made old woman looks very scary and life-threatening to others. This just proves that you don't mess with old women. Alison Lohman's acting was also good as the cursed loan officer. Well, she has to be good because she appears in almost all scenes in the movie. Her portrayal as a naive, struggling and frustrated career woman was almost perfect for me, the audience could even relate to her and her struggles. The other supporting casts such as Justin Long (as Christine's boyfriend, Clay Dalton) and Dileep Rao (as the fortune teller, Rham Jas) sums up a great group of casts. In fact, I love the final scene when Clay Dalton and Christine Brown were at the railway station to go for a holiday trip to Santa Barbara. I think Justin Long was perfect in that scene, love it!

Talking about scenes, I think the final scene was really superb! Although story wise it was quite predictable but the execution was really good. Other great scenes were the loud-and-scary opening scenes and the I'm-getting-my-revenge graveyard scenes. Both are really good and fun to watch, and also my personal favourite scenes from the movie (together with the final scenes at the railway station). But there are a few scenes that I feel were unnecessary but since this movie is from a guy who made Evil Dead, then I guess anything goes. Another thing that bothers me is that everything in this movie wanted to go into Christine's mouth, that include a hankerchief, a fly, and anything that came out from the gypsy woman mouth (eeu!). Weird.

One thing for sure, Drag Me to Hell is a fun horror movie. Very frightening, hilarious, and entertaining. If you like horror movie, then this is a must-see. It was already released in the US for quite some time but had just recently been released in certain Asian countries (11 June 2009 in Malaysia).

By the way, do you ever wonder why this movie was named Drag Me to Hell? It's not a metaphore. The cursed person will be dragged to hell... literally.

...

Scary.

Sandra Bullock in The Proposal

I miss seeing Sandra Bullock on silver screen. She's one of my fave actress. I think the last time I saw her movie in cinema was Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous. Yeah, I know, long long time ago. This June she will star in The Proposal alongside Ryan Reynolds. I hope I have time to watch this!

The Proposal is a story about Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) who was forced to marry his boss, Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) in order for her to avoid being transferred to Canada. They spent the weekend with Andrew's family and eventually started to fall in love. I know this kind of movie is quite predictable but since Sandra Bullock is in it, I don't really mind.

Here's the trailer for The Proposal courtesy of IGN. Enjoy!
