Salam Eid al-Fitr 1437!

Raya cookies!
It's the first day of the month of Syawal as I post this so I want to wish all Muslims Happy Eid al-Fitr! For those who don't know, it's a religious day that marks the end of Ramadhan and to celebrate after a month of fasting and night prayers. While the religious practice is the same where we will have a 2 Rakaat prayer in the morning, cultural-wise there are many different ways of celebrating this day in different part of the world. In Malaysia, people will greet each other with the local greetings "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin", a visit to the cemetery and giving prayers to relatives and friends that had passed away, and having "open houses" where guests will be treated to great local foods.

Although it's sad that there are still news about bombing occurred recently in some countries (including Malaysia!) and some other incidents like the Orlando shooting in United States, I wish that we can all still celebrate peacefully and to also say some prayers to those that had been involved in these tragic incidents. It is really disheartening to see people still misuse religion for other purpose. But we all have to stay strong and work together to make the world a better place for everyone.

Have a great month of Syawal everyone and stay safe.
