2018 Top 40 Songs: My Fave From K-pop Female Groups ~ No. 20 - No. 11

Welcome to the third post for my top 40 songs from female K-pop groups. Let's continue with the songs at number 20 until 11. Which songs do you think will be on this list?

- No. 20 -

Group: Dreamcatcher

I love this song...a lot! And the "magic trick" that they incorporated into their choreography really makes their performance unique. This is the only K-pop group that has that J-Rock vibe that I know of which makes me cherish this group even more. I hope they would continue pursuing this concept because so far I think it's working for them.

- No. 19 -

Group: Momoland

From a girl group of a small company to making it big not only in South Korea but known to worldwide fans as well, 2018 really is a good year for Momoland, and deservedly so considering how good and catchy their songs are. "BAAM" is taken from their fourth EP, Fun to the World, and its music video is showing them embracing some of the world's culture which I think is reflecting their own appreciation to their Global fans who had embraced them.

- No. 18 -

Group: IZ*ONE

This is the debut song for the group that had been formed from the top 12 final contestants of the singing survival TV series, Produce 48. Personally, I think this is a really good debut song that suits well with the group. It has that romantic and sweet aspect to it that complement the pure and innocent image of the members. They can be fierce, as they had demonstrated in the TV series, but to go with this type of song is really a good introduction of the group to the fans that had been waiting for their debut.

- No. 17 -

Group: CLC

CLC really shines with up-tempo songs and Black Dress once again demonstrated their amazing persona and aura with these type of songs. They had few strong cute tracks and ballads in their previous comebacks as well but I think they are really at their best with up-tempo songs. Nevertheless, they are really a great group that I think is still a bit under-rated and most often overlooked. Here's to more great songs, CLC! Keep on fighting!

- No. 16 -

Group: Red Velvet

They can be cute, they can be fierce, they can be sexy, mysterious, quirky...almost anything you want them to be. In short, they are very versatile. With "Bad Boy", they came back with their sexy image and R&B sound, and they had blown up the charts with this release. This is a really good song and has that universal (or should I say international?) sound to it that doesn't necessarily scream K-pop which makes it more accessible to global audience.

- No. 15 -

Group: Dreamcatcher

Another entry from Dreamcatcher, another rock-influenced song to add to the K-pop music library. "What", which is taken from the group's fourth EP, The End of Nightmare, will be their last album with the "Nightmare" concept, the concept that they have been promoting and incorporated into their songs since their debut single, "Chase Me". It is a brilliant and unique concept, so it is bittersweet for me to see this concept ends while anticipating the next great chapter from the group.

- No. 14 -

Group: Saturday

My first impression when I listened to this song was "What a great debut song!". It's so catchy and fun that you can't help but singing along especially in the chorus part even though you might not even speak Korean. It is really that catchy! I really hope for the best for this group.

- No. 13 -

Group: Lovelyz

This group is famous for their softness and innocent image, and I found myself getting more fond of their songs these past few years. They really do have good releases, so it's no wonder they have quite a big group of followers who are loyal to them.

- No. 12 -

Group: fromis_9

Another debut song! "To Heart" is the debut song from fromis_9, a group formed from the final nine contestants from (yet another) reality singing TV show. I love this song a lot, and if not because of the stiff competition from all the other great songs, "To Heart" would have made it into the top 10. It's sweet, it's lovely, and it's a great introduction for the group.

- No. 11 -

Group: Pristin V

Another song that almost made it into the top 10. This song is from a sub-unit of the group Pristin. This is a very strong and powerful track, and it's very different than their releases as Pristin which I think is good because it helps to set this sub-unit apart from the main line. I do wonder what happened to the group though, Pristin hasn't release any new material as a whole group since their last comeback in August 2017. I hope they will have a comeback soon.

And that's it! We're almost at the top but first, do you like any of the songs in this list? Which songs would you wish will be in the top 10?

See you in the fourth and final part where I will finally listed my top 10 songs of the year from female K-pop groups. Hope you like the songs that I've listed so far.
