The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or better known as E3, is the annual trade show for the video games industry with the 20th edition had just been held on June 10 until June 12, 2014 at Los Angeles Convention Center. I've been browsing the games that we featured there through the videos that were posted on YouTube and listing 10 of the games that had caught my interest. I've already listed 5 of them which you can read in Part 1 of the post, and now let's check out another 5 games in this Part 2. Let's start!
Rise of the Tomb Raider
The Tomb Raider video game series had received much success throughout the years but in recent years had gained new height of popularity with its 2013 reboot game, so it come to no surprise that Crystal Dynamics would once again be developing a sequel to that game and continue the series legacy. I like how the game become much more cinematic in terms of its story telling but at the same time still keeping gamers glued to the controllers with its exciting gameplay. But will this sequel be as good as its predecessor? Hopefully it will. To view the trailer to Rise of the Tomb Raider, please click here.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Nothing much is revealed in this game trailer debut, the only thing shown were a couple of scenery shots of a rural area with hills and rivers, and some guy beating another guy to death (gasp!). The scenery shots kind of reminded me of the game Alan Wake and Silent Hill: Downpour, the loneliness and deserted feeling that it has makes me relate this setting in the game to those two that I've mentioned. I'm not sure if this game is a horror game though like those two, so I don't know what else to think about this game yet. But I am interested to know more. As of now, the game is set to be released in September 2014, so it won't be long until we hear more about this game. To view the trailer, you can click here.
Dying Light
This is another video game that I wrote before in my blog, you can check out the post here. The more I look at the gameplay of this game, the more I become interested in it. At first it did remind me a lot of Dead Island which is not surprising since the studio that developed this is Techland, the same developer for Dead Island, and the game did in fact started out as a Dead Island sequel before being turned into a completely new game. But after watching this new gameplay trailer, it does look like a separate game from the Dead Island universe, which is a really good thing since that is what it is intended to be. It looks like it will be a more intense game with day/night cycle and more violent and aggressive type of zombies. You can check out the awesome gameplay trailer of Dying Light here.
Lifeless Planet
If you search "E3 2014 game trailers" in YouTube, you probably won't find this game in the first page of the search results. You may not even find this on the second or third page of the search results. As most of the search results would bring in big budget, high-profile games from well-known studios, it's understandable if this game didn't make it at the top of the list. But Lifeless Planet did caught my interest; somehow the prospect of playing as an astronaut stranded on a deserted lonely planet and players would need to explore its surface to uncover its secret sounds very intriguing to me. And when I found out that this game is primarily the product from one developer, which is David Board, makes me even more impressed. It may not have high quality visuals or even complicated gameplay features like some of the games featured at E3 this year, but looking at the trailer and thinking that this is basically coming from one person is truly inspiring. No Man's Sky
From the info that I managed to get, this game seems to have a lot of potential. The prospect of being able to explore from one planet to another, experiencing each planet's unique habitat and nature, sounds very interesting and promising of a good gameplay. Although there are still a lot of things that haven't been revealed yet, like what is the objective of the game or will it has a story/plot of its own, so far what have been revealed looks absolutely awesome. Developed and published by Hello Games, the game had gained a lot of interest among game critics. No Man's Sky will debut on PlayStation 4 with release to other platforms still open. You can watch the trailer to the game by clicking here.
So what do you think of the rest of my games pick from E3? Did any one of these 10 games that I chose piqued your interest as well? Or are there other games that you are more interested in? Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the post.
