My 2018 Top 10 Films ~ No. 5 - No. 1

*Note*
I've actually already drafted this earlier but forgot that I haven't finish it and only noticed that I didn't posted it yet until it's nearly the end of 2019. It's crazy to post top 10 2018 movies when 2020 is almost here. But hope you still enjoy it. Movies are timeless anyway. ;-)

Continuing on from my previous post, here are my top 10 films of 2018 - part 2. You will find my top 5 films of the year 2018 in this post. Did you missed the first 5 movies in my list? Well, you can go and click here for that.

Now, let's finish off the list.

No. 5 ~ Deadpool 2

The aforementioned character in the movie title itself is undoubtedly an awesome character, but don't ever think that that's the only good character in this movie because there are a whole bunch of them. Cable, Domino and Firefist were superb in this movie, and even the minor characters and cameos were amazing. I like the plot better than the first movie as well. I'm not sure what would happen to the film franchise after the Fox Studio acquisition by Disney but I hope they would continue with a sequel after this.

No. 4 ~ Avengers: Infinity War

The highest-grossing film of 2018 and the 4th highest-grossing film of all time as of this writing. Wow, such impressive records. The film made over $2 billion at the box-office worldwide and fairs well with critics too. The fight scenes in this film are so entertaining to watch and you can't help but root for the heroes to win. Alas, the plans fall through and the heroes lost (or did they? - I'm sure everyone knows the answer to that by now). I love the cliffhanger ending too, it's not only left a different tone to the movie but I'm also sure that it left a huge impact on the movie audience.

No. 3 ~ Ready Player One

I can't believe how much I enjoyed watching this movie, I really did. I almost stand up from my seat and give the loudest applause that I can after Parzival (or Wade Watts, the main character played by Tye Sheridan) managed to crack the clue and complete the first challenge to find the golden Easter egg in the virtual reality world, OASIS. The virtual world of OASIS looks so exciting and diverse that it immersed you in the world like how the people in the movie immersed themselves in it. Aside from the gorgeous visuals, the story is interesting and engaging (I told you, I almost stand up from my seat). It made quite a lot of money, around $580 million at the box-office, but with huge production budget and promotional costs, I'm not sure a sequel would happen anytime soon.

No. 2 ~ Mission Impossible: Fallout

This film packed with a lot of action scenes, and most of them seem like live-action stunts (with some CGI sprinkled in I'm sure) but nevertheless, it was a heart-pumping movie filled with bad-ass stunts, cool fight choreographs and amazing locales. Great cast, great story, and to think that these actors would be back for another sequel (or 2!) already get me excited. I may be late to the party when it comes to this movie franchise but I will definitely catch them again when they are back in the cinemas.

No. 1 ~ Isle of Dogs

And the number 1 movie for me is Isle of Dogs! Yes, I am surprised too that this movie managed to top my movie list, but it really is an adorable movie with lots of charm. I've enjoyed myself tremendously watching this in the cinema, right from the epic Japanese-inspired soundtrack at the beginning to the bittersweet ending. I'm a cat-person but seeing the journey that these dogs have to go through really breaks my heart but don't worry, it's not a depressing movie, the film is actually funny and heart-warming. I highly recommended it. There are not a lot of stop-motion animation nowadays so you better treasure them.

And that's it! I've completed my list! And what about you? What are your top 10 movies of 2018? 2019 are packed with exciting movies as well (those already released and upcoming) so I'm definitely looking forward on how my 2019 list will shape up.

  • Pacific Rim: Uprising
  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
  • The Incredibles 2
  • The Nun
  • The Predator
  • Venom
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
