My Music Jam ~ Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Alif Satar for October 2014

It's been awhile since I last post about music that I like so let's talk about music now and what music I've been jamming to lately. There's a lot of good stuff out there, so below are some of the music that I keep on repeating on my laptop while working, or dancing to in my car while driving. Just a side note, even though I put 'October' in the title post, it doesn't mean that the songs I'm listed below were released in October. I just want to differentiate this post with my older post about music, hence the month and the year in the title. Make sense? Now let's turn on the music!

Ed Sheeran ~ Don't

Ed Sheeran had released a new music video for a new song a couple of weeks ago called 'Thinking Out Loud' but I'm still enjoying his song 'Don't'. It is such a cool song with interesting lyrics. I've read an article my friend forward to me before that this song is about Ellie Goulding, who he had a fling with (or so he thought) before she hooked up with Niall Horan from One Direction instead. I'm not sure how true is that article though, you could never 100% sure what you read online nowadays. Whatever it is, I hope everything goes well for him and I hope he keeps continuing on making good music.

Sheppard ~ Geronimo

When I first listen to 'Geronimo', I thought it was an odd song with strange arrangement. But after awhile, the song grew on me and I thought to myself, "Hey, it is a good song!". It was truly addictive listening to the song and it was not even your typical pop song that usually have that addictive vibe. This indie pop band from Australia had even been signed with music manager, Scooter Braun (the one who discovered Justin Bieber on YouTube), for their US launch. I'm pretty sure we will be hearing a lot from this band in the future. I hope they have great success!

Colbie Caillat ~ Try

This is truly an inspirational song, and it's accompanied by an inspirational music video too. Although the lyrics and music video suits more to girls and women, I don't see why boys and men can't learn something from this song too. Boys and men do face peer pressure to 'fit in' too sometimes but I have to say in these days and age, girls and women face tougher challenges and pressures amidst all these unrealistic ideas on what beauty is. Yes, we all can learn a thing or two from this song. Let our inner beauty shine everyone.

Maroon 5 ~ Animals

I love 'Maps', the lead single from their fifth studio album 'V', but I have to say 'Animals' sounds pretty awesome too. They are pretty consistent in churning out good song after good song with each album, I guess that's why they are so popular. Their music connects easily with the mainstream. But did you see the music video for this? One word from me: WOW! It's very sexy but very weird and kind of creepy at the same time. You either love it or hate it. I know the lead singer, Adam Levine, is very popular among the ladies but does he has to take his shirt off in almost every music video of Maroon 5? I mean, come on, you don't need to remind me that I don't have a hot body like yours. Just let me enjoy your music, please.... I won't recommend the music video for kids, so if you are one, please don't click the link below, okay dear? :-)

T-ara ~ Sugar Free

Okay, let's move on to a K-pop song now. T-ara is one of the more popular girl group from South Korea and it's not hard to wonder why. They have great selection of songs under their belt and adding one more to the list is their latest offering, 'Sugar Free'. The song's title remind you of food isn't it? Well, the lyrics actually talks about a lover who somewhat had been cold towards his love interest and had lost the "sweetness" that he used to give to her before, hence the love is 'sugar free', somewhat meaning that the relationship is not sweet anymore. Quite creative in using the term that way, don't you think? But to be honest, if I didn't do some research and find out what the lyrics actually mean, I would still be thinking that they are talking about food. Oh my, now I feel hungry.

Meghan Trainor ~ All About That Bass

This is a great song which tell us to love our body just the way they are. And it's also interesting to see that despite the subject matter of the song, the singer was dressed pretty decently in the music video and not at all sexy or behaving provocatively. You know how music videos nowadays, if the song is about body image, we could almost expect the singer to expose his/her body in scantily clad clothing. The fact that Meghan Trainor didn't do that in her music video is very commendable. And she still became popular! See, you don't need to always be sexy to be a successful singer. I wish she will have more success in her music career and become a good role model for everyone.

Alif Satar ~ Akhiri Penantianku

Okay, now let's move on to some local music. Alif Satar is a young Malaysian singer, actor and TV host. The music video for Akhiri Penantianku (which literally translates to 'End My Waiting') was released back in February 2014 and the song was taken from his 2013 album, Definisi ('Definition' in English). I love the song, it's such a good ballad. I really like him since he competed in the Malaysian singing competition, One in a Million, and placed third. I know a lot of reader of this blog is not from Malaysia, and you might not know who this guy is, but a good song is a good song no matter where the singer from, right? I hope you check this song out, and I hope you like it because I personally do.

Echosmith ~ Cool Kids

Oh, it's a band! I thought the song was sung by a solo artist. Well, as you might have noticed, I don't know much about this band before. They are actually an indie pop band from America and consists of four siblings. Cool Kids definitely a cool song, which talks about how 'I wish that I could be like the cool kids'. If you listen carefully, it sounds like a story of a girl/boy who wants to belong, which kind of sad when you think about it. But who doesn't felt that way when they were in school right? I definitely did, and I believe a lot of people do/did too. Maybe that's why it connect with a lot of people and became popular. And it's also a catchy song, and who doesn't love that?

Taylor Swift ~ Out of the Woods

I save the best for last. Taken from her latest studio album, 1989, which will drop on 27th October 2014, Out of the Woods is the second song to be officially released from the album, and was released as a countdown single to promote it. I'm totally in love with this song. It's beautiful, addictive to listen to and just amazing! It sounds totally different from what she used to release before, and kind of like a new and fresh sound for her. There's been reports that the song is about her former boyfriend, Harry Styles from One Direction, but I don't think there is any official statement regarding this from her. As of now, the song do not have a music video so I insert below a link for her live performance instead.

Listen to Out of the Woods here.

Like I said, a lot of good stuff out there, am I right? So what do you guys think of this music list? Do you guys listen to all these songs too?
