I need more airplay of these songs!

I just wanna share with you guys some of the songs that I'm so crazy about now. Some of them are not really new or current but the lack of airplay makes me hope that they will be played more. So here they are, the songs that I wish will be played when I switch on the radio:

Gym Class Heroes feat. The Dream: Cookie Jar
(It sure sounds delicious)

Britney Spears: Circus
(Being a Britney fan, I cannot bring myself to not putting this song on the list)

Taylor Swift: Love Story
(I love the story in this song)

Sara Bareilles: Love Song
(I love Love Song!)

Thriving Ivory: Angels on the Moon
(I'm not sure about the rest of the world but they are quite new to Asians, I think. I love the lead vocal, his voice is so unique)

Westlife: Us Against the World
(Aaahh...such a sweet ballad)

Christina Milian: Us Against the World
(Aaahh...another sweet ballad. I'm melting...)

David Archuleta: A Little Too Not Over You
(I could listen to this song all day long. It's lovely and sad at the same time)

Leona Lewis: I Will Be
(Powerful vocal, amazing song. Should I say more?)

I could not think of anyone who would not love all the songs that I've listed above. All of them are so good. Here's a confession, I'm addicted to them!

Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula ~ review

Funny and entertaining, that's all I got to say about this movie. But it's not fair for me to write a short review for such a good movie right? So here goes nothing.

Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula (or Gang: The Adventure Begins in English) is a Malaysia CG animation movie produced by Les' Copaque which recently opened in local cinemas with huge success. It follows the adventure of a group of people (teenagers & kids) in discovering the mystery behind the mass dissapearance of durian (a unique type of fruit that are planted in Malaysia and some other Asian countires) in their village's orchards.

Overall, as I said, the movie is funny and entertaining. It has diverse and likable characters with unique characterisation. When I said diverse, I mean racial and behavior wise. The movie accurately shows the environment and surrounding of a village in Malaysia and how people with different race and religion live together in harmony. It's so typically Malaysia and I love it. If this movie gets to go overseas, it can really be a stepping stone in introducing Malaysia to the world through the medium of animation.

The characters that steal the limelight in this movie, of course, the naughty twin boys, Upin and Ipin. These 2 boys are already famous among kids and adults alike in Malaysia because they already have their own animated TV series. Although they look alike, audience who are not familiar with them can still distinguish between the two not just physically (Upin has a bit of hair on his head while Ipin is bald) but also through their characterisation (Upin is obviously the leader among the two).

Characterisation is what makes this movie so diverse and unique. One character is not the same with the other. Each character also has its own unique style and habit. There is not one character that I didn't like. The voice acting is also good and helps to emphasize more on the difference of each character. The storyline is also good with humor, horror, adventure all mix in 1.

With all those praises, however, there are some few things that could be improved. While the animation is still good, but it still looks stiff when it comes to movement. I don't mind when a character run, jump, roll over, laugh, cry, et cetera2 coz they all look good to me but when it comes to dancing (yes, there is 1 part in the movie where all the villagers were dancing and singing), they look just a bit awkward. Other than that, I have nothing else to say about animation coz it's PERFECT.

Another thing that bothers me about the movie is the horror element in it. I find that the scenes involving monsters are a bit scary for kids. I love the scenes but I'm an adult so that's fine for me. One more thing is the scene where the 2 monsters fighting (the 'mother' and the giant snake) were a bit too long. I would enjoy it so much better if it was cut a bit shorter.

You can read more about the movie in Wiki and also from the official website (please note that the official website is in Malay language). You can check out the trailer of the movie, learn more about the characters, and download bunch of stuff at the site. And if you are interested to know more about durian, just click here to read about it in Wiki. ;-)

American Idol 2009

Who will be the next American Idol??? It's still a long way to go but there are already some names that emerged as favorites. But still, it's too soon to tell coz' some will improve and some will fall. We already have our Top 36 and soon the Top 12 will be revealed. Group 1 already performed and from what I've read, some were disappointing and some were quite impressive.

American Idol Season 8 aired on StarWorld (Channel 711, Astro Malaysia). I will not post as much as I did during AI Season 7 coz I'm quite busy with my work in the office lately, so to get instant news on your favourite show, just visit the official website or this awesome fansite.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 9 premieres tonight!

Yes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 9 will premiere tonight on AXN (Channel 701, ASTRO Malaysia) at 10.00 pm. Yay! It came quite early to Malaysian television since this season is still airing in the US. Expect a lot of changes as more and more beloved regular CSIs leaving the show. So so sad. I hope the new characters can bring new perspectives to the show and be as interesting as the old characters who left.

Changes can lead to 2 things, good or bad. Hopefully it will be the former for CSI.

Update: Sorry, I gave the wrong time. It's every Wednesday at 10 p.m., not 9 p.m. I already fixed it. Sorry again.

2012 in 2009

Confused? 2012 is actually a title of an upcoming movie scheduled to be released November this year. It's a huge-production movie by a well-known director, Roland Emmerich, who had brought us Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. Harald Kloser and him co-wrote this movie and co-produced it with Mark Gordon. The casts would include John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Thomas McCarthy, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, and Singaporean actor Ng Chin Han.

Here's a teaser trailer of the movie, and the only trailer that had been released so far (if I'm not mistaken). It looks kinda interesting and scary at the same time. It's still a long way till it's release so we have to wait for another trailer to see more of the movie but right now, I hope you like this. Enjoy! (and thanx IGN!)

Analeigh rules! The awards show funny moments

For episode 7, the girls had a photo shoot inspired from the Tyra's Fiercee Awards on The Tyra Banks Show. The girls potrayed several funny moments in an awards show like someone stepping on your gown, tripping up the stairs, wearing the same gown with another star, and several others.

I have to admit, there were not many pics that I like from this episode. The only one that I think nailed it was Analeigh. She was portraying an interviewer with an attitude.

"You were saying..." Analeigh.

However, she was not being called first this week. Instead, she was called 2nd after Marjorie. Well, I think that's fine because Marjorie did quite well too. But I really wish she was called 1st coz I think her pic was great.

Sheena and Lauren Brie ended up in the bottom 2, and Lauren Brie was eliminated. They were both criticised for their bad pics but Sheena outgoing personality saved her. It was the 2nd week that got a girl saved by personality. The previous week, Joslyn was saved because of her cheerful personality even though she had a bad pic.

"Oops! Hope nobody saw me" Lauren Brie

It's sad to see Lauren Brie being eliminated, At least it's sad for me. I wanted to see more from her coz I think she got huge potential. In fact, her pic from episode 4 (the swimwear shot) is my favourite pic for this cycle. It's a shame, really.

Anyway, I guess that's all for this episode review. Sorry for a short post. Like I said, I don't really like the pics from this episode (except for Analeigh of course). That's why I went for a shorter post with fewer photos. I hope you guys won't mind. Anyway, see you in the next review. Just a few more to go....

Welcome to the mystery House....

I've never heard about this movie before. But suddenly on one fine day, I saw a few seconds of the trailer on TV and I got curious. So I went on a search through the Internet about the movie and found the details on Wikipedia (my favourite source for easy search) but there wasn't much info on it which is fine by me because I wasn't looking for spoilers anyway. From what I understand this movie is a novel adaptation and came out in 2008 in the US but just recently made its way to Malaysian cinemas. At first I wonder why the late arrival but then again it is common for low publicized Hollywood movie to arrive late in other part of the world...if not at all.

The trailer looks pretty good with pretty scary and mysterious storyline. I kinda like this type of movie. But I noticed that it's only screened in selected cinemas. The nearest cinema that screened this movie is about 30-minute drive from my house, minus the traffic jam. Bummer. I'm too curious to know what happen in this movie. We just have to wait and see; if my will to save petrol is stronger than my desire to watch this movie, then I'll passed, if not then I'll go watch it.

Here's the trailer that got my curiosity high. Thanx IGN! You can click here to go to the movie page on IGN or here to the movie page on Wiki.

A talented yound Idol

A cute face, a soulful voice, a huge fan base, but does he have what it takes to be successful in the entertainment world? Here's a track-to-track review of David Archuleta self-titled debut album.

1. Crush (J. Cates/D. Hodges/E. Kiriakou)

> I don't think I need to say much about this song coz everyone knows how great this 1st single is by now.

2. Touch My Hand (W. Wilkins/S. Kipner/S. McEwan)

> OMG, I had goosebumps the 1st time I listen to this song. Definitely my favourite track from the album. LOVE IT!

3. Barriers (W. Wilkins/S. Kipner/S. McEwan)

> These trio really know how to compose a good song coz this track is really great too. A little bit weird at chorus the 1st time I heard it but definitely one of the best track from the album.

4. My Hands (E. Kiriakou/J. Fauntleroy III/Z. Bey)

> I like it but David sounds a little out of breath when singing this. Still, he delivers. Great job!

5. A Little Too Not Over You (D. Archuleta/M. Krompass/M. Gerrard/R. Nevil)

> I'm surprised David Archuleta co-wrote this, it just proved how talented he is. It's a really good song. I keep playing it in my head. A catchy & friendly song that easy to sing-along to.

6. You Can (A. Armato/T. James)

> A nice ballad. I really like the chorus.

7. Running (K. Risto/W. Nugent/D. Torimiro/J. Fauntleroy III/S. Russell)

> A nice song but I must say that it's 1 of my least favourite track from the album.

8. Desperate (A. Carlsson/D. Child/A. Rethwisch/K. Rethwisch)

> I felt really strange and little bit awkward at first listening to David Archuleta saying 'desperate' a few times during the chorus but after awhile, I don't really bother coz the music is good. I really love the music especially during the 1st verse.

9. To Be With You (E. Kiriakou/K. DioGuardi)

> Another ballad, and a nice 1 too. With Kara DioGuardi as the background vocal, it really sounds like a duet. Well, I'd wish it was a duet coz I think it will sound great.

10. Don't Let Go (JC Chasez/J. Harry/D. Archuleta)

> Another song co-wrote by David Archuleta. A nice song but 1 of my least favourite track from the album. Sorry....

11. Your Eyes Don't Lie (A. Armato/T. James/D. Karaoglu)

> A very unique song. Love the whistling sound. It made the song sounds like it was taken from a country album. Did I mention unique?

12. Angels (A. Chambers/R. Williams)

> Yes, a cover song. It's one of the hits from Robbie Williams. It really suits with David Archuleta's voice. I love it! Actually, I'm already bored with the song but with David singing it, I'm willing to hear it again.

So basically that was what I feel about each track in the album. I'm a little bit disappointed though that there are no lyrics included in the leaflet. I would love to sing along to many of the songs. The inside leaflet had several (cute) pics of David including a big pic of him on the other side that could be considered a mini poster and thank you notes. It also listed several of his websites, all 3 of them. Just click here, here and here to go there.

As a conclusion, this album is not just for the 'Archies' or 'Arch Angels' (as what his fans called themselves) but also for those who are not his fans but enjoy good pop music. You should give it a try if you love pop songs coz I believe this David would be a master of it.

Disaster or beauty?

I think I should continue my review of America's Next Top Model Cycle 11, it's already been too long since my last post. So here's what I think of the contestants' performances in the photo shoot of episode 6.

In this episode, the models had to portray different types of LA disasters. Analeigh was Santa Ana winds, Clark was blackout, Elina was earthquake, Joslyn was rockslide, Lauren Brie was snowstorm, Marjorie was traffic jam, McKey was heat wave, Samantha was tidal wave and Sheena was sandstorm.

My favourite pics for this episode are from McKey and Elina. McKey was super-hot (she was portraying heat wave so that's kinda suit her) and Elina was gorgoeus, a little stiff but gorgeous. I like the intensity in her eyes.

'Heat Wave' McKey

'Earthquake' Elina

I think these girls were doing okay too; Analeigh, Samantha and Sheena. Samantha was highly praised by the judges for her pic and she was called first after almost being eliminated the previous week.

'Tidal Wave' Samantha

'Santa Ana Winds' Analeigh

'Sandstorm' Sheena

Clark and Joslyn were in the bottom two and Clark was eliminated. I always knew Clark couldn't win this competition (sorry for all Clark fans). Although she was called first in the previous week for that fierce pic of her (I must admit, she really deserved it for such a stunning photo) but the rest of her pics were kinda mediocre. I didn't expect her to be eliminated this week though because I think Joslyn's pic was worse than her, so it was kinda shocking to me.

'Blackout' Clark

You'll never know who will be eliminated next. Like Clark for instance, the previous week she was on top of the pack, the next week she was sent home. I bet she didn't see that coming. Poor Clark. But hey, at least she got her pic displayed in the house once.

At last! I'm a PS2 owner!

Finally! On 24th of January 2009, I had officially became a PS2 owner! I had a long break from office for Chinese New Year so my cousins and I, along with my little sister, went for a PS2 hunt at a shopping mall to find the best bargain.

I was so excited to finally have my own PS2. I had been dreaming for it for years now and finally that dream came true. I know it's not a big deal to most of you. Some of you may already have a game console in your living room since the day it was released and some of you may even have every game consoles in the market in your living room right now. And maybe some of you don't even bother to have one because for you, it's just a game console, nothing more. But for me, it's such a big deal because I love video games so much but was unable to buy one before because of so many problems, primarily because of financial status. So to finally have one, it's like...YAY! I hope you guys get what I mean. Haha!

Anyway, I'm sorry again for not updating my blog regularly like I used to. Hopefully I will post more posts in the future. Till then, tata!
